Unsupervised...

Three days a week, Ethan goes to preschool for 2 hours. I quickly found out how fast that time goes by, so sometimes I'll go get a few errands done, but usually the time is spent at home since I live so close to the school. Jessica usually comes and hangs out there too so the "babies" can have some play time and the Mom's can get a little exercise in. During the winter, we stayed inside and enjoyed some awesome workout videos.

Usually the babies play great, or at least hang close to us, but one day... we heard a loud CRASH and ran over to find this scene:

Ian at the top of the stairs (looking pretty proud & shocked at his muscular ability I'm sure) and my vacuum at the bottom, stuck in the wall.
I found the whole thing pretty amazing considering that he had to drag the vacuum over to the stairs then heave it down. I was pretty impressed and relieved to find that it wasn't a child who had crashed down the stairs.
The best part of the whole story was Clay's reaction (Ian's dad) when Jessica told him about the hole they would later need to fix:

Question #1: Why was Lauren's vacuum sitting at the top of the stairs? (Really? You think I just leave it hanging over the edge?)

Question #2- Why weren't you guys watching him? (Oh, Dads...so funny sometimes!)

I thought it was pretty humerous all around!

Musical Prodigy

My little 19 month musical prodigy.

We were playing at Madison & Ian's house and Tanner stumbled upon a harmonica and it was instant love! He spent the rest of our time there practicing his "no-handed" harmonica playing. All the while, Ethan got an opportunity to have his first dance. At first I thought Ethan was being a good sport to dance to "princess music" but then... he started showing off his "moves"

not bad, huh?

Overall, it was a fun sight to watch! I sure do love these kiddos!

Leprechan Traps

In continued celebration of St. Patrick's Day, we had a little leprechan trap making party. The kids painted and decorated shoeboxes to create a perfect trap for catching a leprechan. Alright, it wasn't the most creative or inventive trap, but Ethan is only 3 and considering his attention span for decorating the trap was only about 7 minutes until he could hear the little kiddos playing in the other room, I think the trap design was just about right.

Overall, he loved the whole experience, the snacks, the traps, the fun with friends. I did even follow through in setting the trap. Unfortunately we didn't catch a leprechan but he did leave us a little treat, a fun maze, and a note asking us to try again next year. Hopefully we'll have better luck next year...maybe we'll have to opt for a better design.

Dr's Appointments & Craft Days

So as you all know who've had babies, Dr's appointments are pretty frequent and the thought of bringing two kiddos along doesn't ever sound appealing, along with the fact that it's "frowned upon" by the office. I'm lucky enough to have such an amazing friend who is willing to watch my kids, and not only watch, but provide some sort of quality craft project with each visit. Honestly, I think I should be giving Ethan's preschool money to her sometimes because the projects are way more creative. For this particular appointment, she created potato stamps and the kids made 4-leaf clovers. Thank goodness she's around to pick up my lack of "holiday festiveness" plus be a HUGE lifesaver time and time again.
