Soccer - Tots Style

In September and October, Ethan participated in a Tots Soccer League at the YMCA. He absolutely LOVED it! He would look so forward to playing soccer every week and worked so hard at his games each Saturday. Unfortunately, our busy schedule got in the way in October so he missed out on a couple games and 4 games really wasn't enough for him, but he was a great sport in understanding and is excited to get to play again next year. Our little boy is a sports fanatic...if it has a ball...he loves it and is honestly really great at it. He's very coordinated and got really good at kicking the ball. He never got much "ball time" during his games, but he sure ran back and forth as hard as he could. He was just so excited to have people there watching him, but the time he got to kick the ball into the net with his Dad before the games was by far his favorite. I wasn't thrilled with his coaches because they didn't do much to teach them new skills or even to practice with fun preschool age games, but luckily at 3 years old...Ethan didn't mind.
How cute is he in his uniform???

His soccer socks now double as GREAT "ice skates" on our hardwood floors!

Labor Day Camping

Labor Day was approaching and we were dying for an outdoor adventure. So we headed for the Peaks of Otter for the weekend. The camping was amazing! Weather was great, campsite was perfect, and the people there were so fun and helpful. The kids were so excited for the trip and loved every minute of being outdoors. Tanner is still in crawling mode so we did our best letting him enjoy himself crawling around in the dirt, but I sure will be excited when he's walking. Our great friends, the Wights, came with us and Ethan loved having Savannah and RJ to play with. They had all kinds of great adventures and were always happy to help collect wood for the fire.
Our meals turned out pretty good considering we were trying to be outside the box. The Wights provided us with some seriously MEATY tin foil dinners...very filling...delicious Smores, our favorite are with Reeses. In the morning we were prepared with eggs and pancakes...only problem...we forgot a pan. So we improvised and used individual mess kits to cook in. It worked out great and we at least got some food for breakfast.
In the morning, Jennifer and I took a nice little hike with the kids while the guys cleaned up camp. We finally made it to the lake just in time for Fishing with the Rangers. They were great. The ranger took individual time with each kid, teaching them how to fish. Ethan got a certificate for catching his first fish and the ranger even made a special trip to our campsite later to bring them another special gift. We loved camping there and can't wait to go back!

September brings a New Look

So I got a haircut that didn't go according to plan...so...I headed in to get my hair "fixed" and out I came with a new cut that I love, definitely the shortest I've ever gone.
Yikes...September...I know I'm way behind but be prepared for tons of updates in the next couple weeks. I'm determined to get caught up!
