Visitors & Warty Pigs

We are always SO EXCITED when family comes to visit. Chris's brothers, Brent & Kyle came down from BYU to visit over President's Day weekend. Everytime they make the drive down from Provo, it's eventful in some way or another so when Brent called Chris while they were on their way down and I heard Chris mention something about getting hit...I was ready for a crazy story.
Short Version: Somewhere on I-17 between Flagstaff and Phoenix, they were driving along and out of nowhere WILD BOARS were crossing the road. There was no time to slam on the brakes, the speed limit is 75 on most of the freeway, so the pigs became casualties. The pig went under the car (small dent) and somehow got flung into the side of the car (which caused the side passenger air bag to deploy) Funny thing...the pig left it's mark on the car...I think it got the poo scared out of him. :)
Everyone was fine...they thought it was the best story ever and retold it MANY times in the 2 days they were here visiting.

When we went to the zoo on Saturday, they decided that this was the culprit, a Warty Pig, smaller than a warthog but hairier than a pig. The hairs did seem to match the ones that were left in the car tire. Who knows?

Sadly, we don't have any pictures of Uncle Ky-gle and Uncle Bre (as Ethan calls them). Don't ask me what my problem is but I'm doing horrible at remembering to take pictures. We had a great weekend and Ethan couldn't get enough play time with his Uncles. It was a sad day when he woke up Monday morning and not only was Daddy gone to work, but his uncles were gone too!

A Day at the Farm

Let me start out by saying...this is the CRAZIEST looking chicken I've ever seen in my life. Anyone else agree??? He definitely has his own style.
At the end of January, our friend Melanie and her daughter Hannah invited us to go with her preschool group on a field trip to the Superstition Dairy Farm that's probably only 5-10 mins from our house. For anyone that's ever visited...it's where the smell comes from every now and then. Anyways, the invitation couldn't have come at a better time because Ethan is absolutely in love with animals right now. Besides building forts, all it seems we do during the day is talk about animals, read books about animals, make their sounds, etc. HE LOVES THEM! It's absolutely amazing to me to watch him at this age, he just loves to learn and seems to learn 2-3 new words every day. This stage in his life may just be my new favorite.
So at the farm, we got to learn all about the cows at the dairy, what they eat, how they are milked, etc. Ethan got to feed goats & a horse. We pet bunnies and had chickens walking around us the whole time. It was a blast! Ethan's favorite part was probably the tractor ride when we got a tour around the whole dairy! Overall GREAT DAY! We ended it with a special treat...Chick-Fil-A for lunch! Yum Yum! Thanks Melanie for inviting us!

Kinda sad look on my boy's face. He was getting his first taste of...No Little Boys Allowed! He waited until the girls left, then he had his turn in the little clubhouse. :)
