Christmas Morning 2009

Here it is...FINALLY...Christmas morning at the Malone house. We had our cute little 4 foot tree decorated and surrounded by our gifts for one another. The stockings were stuffed and I couldn't wait to see the look on Ethan's face when he saw what Santa had brought for him and the family. We have such a generous family because our tree only looked like this for a short while before my mom added her truck load of gifts to our tree. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the finished product, but we appreciated it so much!

The infamous "ball jump up and down"

He was so excited about his toy from Santa that he didn't even care or notice the tree full of gifts under the tree. He could have played with that toy and only that toy for hours if we didn't need to eat breakfast and get to the other gifts before my Mom and Dave had to leave.
It was so special for me to experience the joy the wonder that Christmas brought this year to my sweet boy. I loved the magic of it and watching the excitement. It's not the quantity of gifts with young children, just the smallest thing can keep them happy for hours.
The only other thing besides the ball toy that Ethan asked for was a "little tie." He was so pleased when he found it in his stocking. It was even cuter to see him wear it to church the next Sunday and he was so proud that he looked just like Daddy.

Ethan loved having his Aunt Kendra around for the holidays. She was such an amazing buddy for him and played and played anything he wanted. They built forts, played games, built towers, played basketball, and loved playing with Ethan's new train table that Grandma and Grandpa Malone got for him.

Nana and the boys
HAHAHA!!! So this is us trying to take a family picture Christmas morning. For whatever reason neither of our boys were cooperating at all. Ethan was having a fit and Chris was trying to get him to chill/laugh and Tanner was so squirmy and fussy that it was almost humerous that we were attempting to get a picture at that moment.

Right after our speedy present opening, my mom and Dave were off to the airport. I know...kinda crazy to fly out on Christmas morning but that's how it goes when you fly free on standby during the holidays. You have to go when you can go and they were off to visit my Mom's family in New York. Ethan was sad to say his goodbyes especially after opening all the amazing gifts that he was dying to play with them.
Finally a picture of Ethan and Papa
All in all, we had a fantastic Christmas. The day continued with a trip over to my Dad's house to celebrate with him and my Grandparents. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from their house or Chris's parents house which we went to after our kids had naps. We were spoiled by their generosity. I got some movies, gift cards to go shopping and Chris got a GPS system for the car along with some other great gifts. The boys were loaded up with toys, games and clothes. Ethan was thrilled with his Train Table from Grandma and Grandpa Malone and he played on it for the rest of the evening. We all had a big family dinner together that night and it was great to be surrounded by so much family. I love the holidays!

Christmas Train

We were so lucky to have my mom and Dave come into town right after Ethan's surgery to celebrate Christmas with us this year. I figured since I had an extra set of hands, we'd head to the mall for a Christmas tradition from when I was little. I remember this train all too well, honestly, it could quite possibly be the SAME train.

What I love so much about it is that it brings out the simplicity of children's joy. My cute Ethan was so excited about his train ride that he didn't even mind that all it does is go around and around in circles or that it only lasts 2, maybe 3 minutes. He just loved every minute of it.

Afterwards, we visited with Santa Claus. Unfortunately, no pictures because they were camera nazi's and wouldn't let us take our own and I was feeling too cheap to pay $10+ for 1 little picture that I wouldn't even be able to post on our blog. Ethan was a little nervous, but when it was his turn he was brave and went up to tell Santa what he wants for Christms this year, a "ball jump up and down." (pictures to come!)

Bring it On...

We got home from Ethan's surgery in Charlottsville just as the snow started falling. And boy did it fall. We got over a foot of snow and it was beautiful to watch as it fell from the sky. Ethan was thrilled at this new experience and was ready to go out and build a "Frosty." I just love these pictures of him staring out the window in wonder. There's just something about the lighting contrast which illuminates the brightness of the snow and him in his cute tight fitting jammies that I love.

Chris and E headed out for their first snow adventure. Ethan would have loved to go sledding but had to keep it slow and easy this time due to the surgery. I was bummed for him at the time thinking he might not get an opportunity, but little did I know he'd have multiple more opportunities.

While the big boy were outside playing, Tanner and I had fun with Ethan's Thomas balloon.
I just love this little smile. It can brighten even the coldest and snowiest days!

2 Surgeries in 2 years

It seems unreal to me that my little 2 year old has already undergone 2 surgeries. Especially considering that I am now 26 years old and haven't had as much as a hospital visit (excluding childbirth.) His first took place at 9 months when he had tubes put in his ears for the incescent ear infections that just wouldn't quit. Now he's 2 1/2 and he's just undergone a hernia operation. These pictures were taken in the waiting room of the outpatient surgery center in Charlottsville. I'm so disappointed that I didn't get any pictures of him in his cute little hospital gown being so brave, but pictures were the last thing on my mind at the time.
He did fantastic and recovered quickly! He was the star of the recovery room as all the nurses just doted over him and his cute baby brother. They couldn't stop talking about how cute they were and of course they were pretty impressed by the amount of apple juice and graham crackers he took down after surgery. That's our boy! haha!
We left with 2 balloons, one for each of our boys, and headed home to beat the snow storm that was approaching quickly...

Decorating Pro

This Christmas season was so much fun! It's amazing how much a 2 year old can bring such a special light and spirit into the Christmas season. It's such a testimony to me of how important families are here on Earth.
Ethan got to be the decorating pro this year as he got to assist in decorating our own little 4 fotter, Grandma & Grandpa Malone's "BIG TREE" as E called it, then we headed to Grandpa Joe's house to decorate his tree. Ethan loved getting to do it "all by meself."

Tanner is such a happy kid! He loves to play and smile at anyone who will give him their attention!
